23, was charged in Phnom Penh Municipal Court with the abduction and murder of Lim Srey Pich, a model who recently won a local beauty contest.
Srey Pich disappeared on Oct 23 after going to meet the defendant, whom she met on Facebook. Srey Pich's family later received a call demanding US$50,000 for her release.

However her strangled body was found the next day, dumped in a ditch about 30km from Phnom Penh.
The case has gained much attention from the Cambodian public. Srey Pich had recently won a beauty contest sponsored by an alcohol beverage and her father is a well-known car dealer.
Initially four people, including Kimheng, were arrested. The police have released the others, saying that they had nothing to do with the crime.
Chuon Narin, deputy chief of Phnom Penh Municipal Police, said that Kimheng approached the 19-year old with a proposal of a partnership in a clothing business. He believed that the victim was dead before her family was asked to pay ransom.
