Phnom Penh pair caught riding high, running slow
Two drug takers were cuffed by police after daring to smoke an unnamed substance in a public place on Monday. The dopey duo were spotted leisurely puffing away in a quiet part of Phnom Penh’s Sen Sok district but tried to leg it when suspicious officers marched up to them. The penned-in pair had little option but to admit to consuming the substance and police allege they also had previous careers in drug delivery. Koh Santepheap

Crooks learn too many thieves ruin the theft
A dual-moto bag snatch in Phnom Penh’s Dangkor district resulted in a win-some lose-some for both sides of the criminal equation. Police say it took four thieves to steal a single moto from a victim as well as her bag, but only two got away. The unsuccessful crims crashed their vehicle while trying to make a getaway and were promptly nabbed. Their luckier counterparts sped on. Kampuchea Thmey

Naif nastily knifed near neighbouring nation
Police are investigating an odd knifing incident near the Thai border of Banteay Meanchey’s Poipet town on Sunday. A 20-year-old lad ventured briefly over the other side of the national border, and when he returned a mysterious assailant came up and thrust a knife into his back. The seriously injured victim said he didn’t recognise the fleeting fiend and had no enemies. Police are now on the hunt for the nefarious knifer. Rasmey Kampuchea

Kampong Cham man fatally stabbed over dog
A long-standing quarrel between two neighbours turned deadly on Sunday after one riled resident turned the blame on the other’s pet dog. Bad feelings between the two Kampong Cham men were nothing new, said the mother of one of the feuders. When the victim drunkenly attacked next door neighbour’s pooch, he was angrily told he was barking up the wrong tree. The argument escalated and the devoted dog owner whipped out a knife and fatally stabbed the 44-year-old. Police are now searching for the suspect. Kampuchea Thmey

Love hurts, especially when rocks are involved
A group of fired-up teens in Phnom Penh’s Tuol Kork district turned love into a battlefield on Saturday when a mass fight erupted over girl troubles. The mini mugs hurled stones and bottles at each other while the terrified traffic skirted around them. The brawl was not the first time the students had taken schoolyard crushes to the streets, police said.
