Sinith M’s FullSUN blazes trail to glory

Fortunately, the international break hangover wasn’t evident for everyone in gameweek 8 of the CC/PPP/CTN Fantasy League with several sides recording vivacious victories.

The London derby between Tottenham and Chelsea had always promised fireworks both on and off the pitch, but a certain Spanish midfielder stole all the headlines with a simply sublime performance.

Juan Mata scored half of Chelsea’s four against Spurs and set up another to capture 18 points, a clear three points ahead of the pack in the personal standings.

However, less than a 10th of the fantasy league managers had selected the 24-year-old let alone installed him as their captain.

Two other players mustered 15-point hauls – Fulham defender Chris Baird with a goal and clean sheet and West Ham midfielder Mark Noble with a brace.

Wayne Rooney had to settle for 14 points due to an early own goal blunder, despite going on to net twice and assist another.

Winner of the gameweek was Sinith M with his team FullSUN on 83 points.

Opting for the Flying Dutchman Robin van Persie as his skipper to collect 22 points, Sinith also enjoying shining contributions from Mark Noble and Fulham fullback John Arne Riise (10 points).

Sinith picks up the weekly prizes of a $20 phone voucher and T-shirt courtesy of sponsors Cellcard.

Due to a clerical error, the previous winner of a gameweek was incorrectly stated as Mark Pastro with his side Snappers on 76 points.

The winner should have been named as Evakovic with the team Alienware-Cambo on 79 points. The Post apologises profusely for the error.

Gameweek 9 runs out neatly inside the coming weekend, with QPR tripping across London to take on Arsenal, Everton welcoming their Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Chelsea hosting a blockbuster fixture against Man United.

So get your transfers done before 5:30pm on Saturday.
