Siem Reap journalist killed in moto accident

A journalist who worked for the Siem Reap television station, Apsara Net, died in a road collision on Wednesday night, Siem Reap town deputy police chief Nol Rong said.

Ream Vannara was returning home when his moto collided with a truck in Siem Reap’s Treal village, Rong said. Villagers who said they had heard a loud crash and the sound of a truck driving away arrived to find Vannara lying on the road, he said.

“He wasn’t wearing a helmet,” Rong said, noting that police had ruled out foul play. Vannara was also a communications officer at the APSARA Authority for the Protection and Management of Angkor, and had worked for the online news site DAP News.
