Gameweek 18 of the CC/PPP/CTN Fantasy League stumbled through Saturday with only Liverpool capturing the imagination with a 4-0 rout of Fulham. It was Chelsea, however, on Sunday that stole the limelight via a sensational 8-0 demolition job of Aston Villa.
Unsurprisingly, the Dream team was awash with Reds and Blues players, the latter more prominently, while Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard headed the list with 17 points earned from his two goals and assist.
It was a captain’s pick of Gerrard that helped this week’s double set of winners. The Royal Team managed by Boreth Sous and the Red Giants Ibis FC team of Seyha Thang both amassed 92 points thanks to the 34 from Gerrard as skipper, as well as Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta for 10. The managers were equal on two transfers during the game-week and will thus collect a $10 phone voucher and T-shirt each from sponsors Cellcard.
Boreth’s squad featured the likes of Steven Pienaar, whose goal and assist for Everton helped him to 13 points, and Chelsea’s goalscoring defender Branislav Ivanovic on 12.
Seyha, meanwhile, made up his tally a Chelsea trio of Emboaba Oscar (12), Garry Cahill (10) and Fernando Torres (6).
Of tomorrow’s Boxing Day fixtures, the Guardian reports that the Arsenal v West Ham game will be postponed due to “planned industrial action on the London Underground.” It will be rescheduled to either January 23 or 26.
Man United welcome Newcastle to Old Trafford looking to maintain their four-point lead over rivals Man City into the New Year, as City attempt to reduce the deficit by defeating the Black Cats in Sunderland.
Gameweek 19 will also see our mid-season champions crowned, with the top three teams of the overall standings awarded a Cellcard wifi router and T-shirt, while the top 10 will receive an invite to a special CC/PPP/CTN Fantasy League party (venue and date TBC).
