Single? Loved-up? What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than with good drink, great food and even better company? An array of dining and entertainment opportunities are on the menu tonight.
Haute cuisine with heart: Doors
Doors restaurant will be putting on a five-course meal by chef Aitor Olabegoya to celebrate the occasion. Olabegoya, based in Barcelona, is executive chef at Doors in Phnom Penh, in addition to running restaurants in Spain, Hong Kong, and Beijing.
The chef has been involved with Doors since its inception, and visits Cambodia every month to work with the head chef there.
But tonight’s diners should expect “food from the heart”, he said. “Just because it’s Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean that it has to be conventionally romantic by overdressing food with sugar and flowers; the depth of flavours and the freshness of ingredients will bring you the sensation of love.”
Cambodia is a fast growing country with a vibrant gastronomic scene, Olabegoya said. “You can either find deep-fried tarantulas, interesting street food or fine French restaurants.
“Tasting Cambodia’s flavours is a must for any chef in Asia.”
He owns and runs many companies, and manages his own restaurant in Barcelona.
The Valentine’s Day menu will include everything from oysters and salmon, to surf and turf and mini hamburgers.
The meal will set you back $42 per person, and tables need to be booked in advance. Doors will also have free-flowing wine from 6-10pm at $20 per person, and live jazz by Ritchie and Phil from 7pm to 10pm.
