KUALA LUMPUR: Dataprep Holdings Bhd, which derives slightly less than 10% of turnover from its overseas operations, currently hopes to increase it to about 20% in the next two years, its CEO Ahmad Rizan Ibrahim said.
“We are currently looking at increasing our presence in Indo-China, Asean and China. We are now in talks with parties in China, Cambodia and Vietnam,” he told the media Friday but declined to reveal the name of the parties concerned.
Ahmad Rizan said that the company’s sound credentials in putting information technology related infrastructure particularly for the government and higher education sectors will stand it in good stead.
As to the mode of entry into the various overseas countries, Ahmad Rizan said that it would be in the form of joint ventures or strategic partners.

“It will greatly depend on the requirements of the country where we propose to go in,” he said.
The company already has a project in China. Dataprep had been appointed the main information and communication technology and project delivery partner for the Secret Garden Resorts Project in the city of Chong Li, Province of Hebei, People’s Republic of China.
With an estimated gross development value of US$6 billion (RM19.69 billion), Secret Garden Resorts, which is located 250km west of Beijing, will be a world-class integrated ski resort development covering an area of 100 sq km to be built over several years.
The project, planned to be a major international tourism destination in China, is the brainchild of Lim Chee Wah having mooted the project four years ago, who is also the principal shareholder and director of Dataprep Group.
Ahmad Rizan said the project will be undertaken in phases with hotels and sea trails planned or already completed.
On the prospects of Dataprep, Ahmad Rizan said that the group’s main focus is to seek new revenue streams amid efforts undertaken to improve its core businesses of technology and solution integration, managed services and payment solutions and services.
Dataprep suffered a loss of RM4.97 million on the back of a turnover of RM53.403 million for the financial year ending March 31, 2013.
