Mentally ill man attacks his traditional healer
A 72-year-old traditional healer was seriously injured after his mentally ill patient attacked him in Kampong Cham’s Prey Chhor district on Tuesday. Police said the patient, 24, had lived with the healer under constant supervision for about one year to have his disease cured. In an apparent relapse, the afflicted delivered three blows to the doctor’s head using a machete from a nearby shrine. The healer was sent to a provincial hospital, then transferred to Phnom Penh. Restaurant staff hinder iPod thieves’ getaway
A 35-year-old motor taxi driver and another man were apprehended on Tuesday for allegedly stealing an iPod in Phnom Penh’s Chamkarmon district. Police said the men stopped in front of a restaurant to buy food and used the occasion to snatch an iPod from a table. Their escape attempt was thwarted by the restaurant staff, who captured the men and turned them over to the police. The driver denied any involvement in the incident. Cleaver used on man after party argument
A 27-year-old man was critically injured with a cleaver at an engagement party in Kampong Speu’s Phnom Sruoch district on Sunday. Motorbike driver dies after crashing into cart
POLICE said a 25-year-old man died on Tuesday after his motorbike crashed into a food cart in front of the international airport in Por Sen Chey district. Woman arrested for selling borrowed bike
A 27-year-old woman was placed under arrest on sus-picion of selling a borrowed motorbike in Kandal’s Kandal Stung district on Friday. Police said the suspect and her 29- year-old accomplice took the bike from a friend, pawned it for $800 and disappeared. The 26-year-old victim reported it to the police, who arrested one of the suspects. The woman denied involvement in the crime, saying her friend was responsible for pocketing the money.
