The Supreme Court today will hold another appeal hearing of Seng Chenda – wife of well-known businessman Khaou Chuly – and three other defendants, all of whom were convicted of the attempted murder of Chenda’s stepdaughter in February of last year, lawyers said yesterday.
Pal Chandara, the attorney hired by victim Sun Sotha's husband, told the Post that the court will begin hearing the appeals of Chenda; ex-Chuly security guard Sok Lak; and maids Chan Sokha (who worked for Chuly) and Neang Sinath (who worked for Chantha).
“I hope that justice still exists for my client,” Chandara said.
In their appeal hearing last September, Sokha claimed to have heard conversations between Chuly and his son, Khaou Phalabot, in which they hatched a plan to kill Sotha.
Phalabot, a two-star air force general, was later stripped of his rank, though officials declined to explain why.
Chenda and Lak are serving 20 years, while Sokha and Sinath were given 18 years.
