Kids basketball event highlights road safety


The second edition of the CIA First Road Safety Basketball Tournament will be held this Saturday at the CIA First International School on Street 2004.


Eight teams are slated to take part in the annual event organised to help promote road safety to primary, middle and high school students. 

According to CIA First physical education co-ordinator Aohnte Lypoilei, the competition will feature two boys teams and a girls team from the hosts, a boys team and a girls team from charity organisation Pour un Sourire d´Enfant, two boys team from International School of Phnom Penh and a boys team from East West International School.

Games will tip off from 8am with three knockout rounds of the U17 boys division before a single match between the two girls teams. Winners of the boys games and the highest scoring loser will go through to semifinals and final after lunch, with an awards ceremony at 2pm.

All participants will be presented with certificates of participation as well as safety helmets, while the overall winners of both boys and girls events will carry away trophies.

CIA First Team A will be looking to defend the title they won during last year’s event when they defeated the boys from Tuol Tompoung High School.
