A mother and her baby daughter were killed and three others injured when an electrical short caused three houses to burn down in Battambang province on Sunday, police said yesterday.
Yem Vichet, police chief of Thma Koul district, said Nai Kemheang, 29, was carrying her baby and had re-entered her house to save her other daughter, whom she mistakenly believed was inside, when the house collapsed on her and the baby.
Both mother and infant were killed.
The mother’s husband and two parents suffered from burns and were sent to hospital for treatment.
