Former King Norodom Sihanouk’s ashes dropped into Tonle Sap River

PHNOM PENH: former King Norodom Sihanouk’s ashes were thrown into Tonle Sap River in front of Royal palace today. Dropping ashes into river will bring the happiness to family, and the people, according to the Khmer belief. His majesty King Norodom Sihamoni dropped former king’s ashes into river with his own hands. His majesty the King also was accompanied by member of royal families in the procession of dropping former king’s ashes into the river. The body of former king Norodom Sihanouk cremated on Feb 4 and his body was fired with luxurious wood Khlom Chan (a kind of plant was refined as fragrant perfume) by the god of fire (sun- light). Former King is father of the national independence and national reconciliation, and unity. He died due to heart attack on October 15, 2012, at the age of 90 in a hospital in Beijing of China. END
